Week of October 12th

Hello all! Welcome to my blog here on blogspot.

Week of October 12th:
Short three day week this week:

7/8 Band and 9-12 Band (Pd. 1 and 7)
- You have a lot on your plate in terms of prepartion. Practice all your music this week, both concert and marching. Both are rapidly approaching. I plan to pass out Disney music at the beginning of next week. Remember to also look at county/district solos.

8 Music:
W: We will review with a worksheet pertaining to topics about Early Romanticism and Romantic Opera. I will begin to lecture on late romanticism.
Tr: Continue discussion about late romanticism moving possibly into nationalism.
Fr: Worksheet on Late Romanticism and listening to some Bruckner / Mahler (my favorites)
*** LOOKING AHEAD***** Next week: Continue Nationalism, Review, Test on Romantic Period + Nationalism. 5x5 assigned next week as well.

Music Theory:
This week will be difficult for some of you because the topics we are discussing might not be as easy as they are for you as they are to others. We are going to look at Flats and Sharps this week, Naturals, and Whole/Half steps. We will have a quiz mid-week next week, and I am not sure how far we will get every day....depends on you. Overview is:
Lesson 22 and 23 on Weds
Lesson 24 and 25 on Thursday
Practice and Dictations on Friday

Concert Band: Practice Wednesday October 14th from 3-5pm
Next Practice is Wednesday October 21st from 3-4pm (This is a change from Monday the 19th due to District chorus and other things)

Marching Band: Great weekend this weekend folks! You guys did fantastic and I am so proud of each and everyone of you. I listened to all nine tapes and have some good ideas for this upcoming week. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you are on time on Thursday. We will rehearse up until 5 adding in some new visuals, working on starts and stops and doing some basic marching. I have an exercise that I found will work in order to help us start together and stop together. We will work visually on the last half of the show as that is truely our weakest.

Musically: We are doing very very good keep up the good work and don't slack....Only a few more rehearsals and we will be done.

Disney Band: I am going to hopefully see each one of you by the end of the week and have music ready to hand you. A lot of preparation will be individual preparation. Please be responsible. Our first Disney Practice will be Thursday October 29th after school.
