Guitar:
Weds - Review notes of D-E string - learn amazing grace and saints go marching
Thurs - learn chords for amazing grace and saints go marching - attempt to play in groups of two as duets

Band:

Continue to practice for our concert on December 13th - next after school rehearsal is next Wednesday December 5th from 3-515pm.
District Band auditions are this Saturday - Bus leaves lower lot by 7:45am

Week of 5/14

Hi Folks:

Here is what's taking place this week in Mr. Tenaglia's classroom!

Band:
We will rehearse after school this week on Monday and Wednesday until 4:30. We will be preparing Pomp and Circumstance, Holst-March, This is My Country and Battle Hymn of the Republic for graduation and memorial day. Please be in attendance as we will conduct Drum Major auditions as well. Make certain you see Mr. Tenaglia to hand in all concert band music, your marching band uniform, and anything else you might have in your possession. Marching band calendars will be distributed this week, and more information will be forthcoming.

Guitar:
M: Students will select song of their choosing to practice for the week
Tu - Wed: continue practicing
Tr: Final Quiz Grade
We will begin our final review on Wednesday and conclude on Friday.

Week of May 7th!

Almost here folks - here is what's taking place this week in Mr. Tenaglia's classroom.

Guitar:
This week we will be studying how to play songs using tabs. We will look at the beginning of Stairway to Heaven, Free Bird Solo, and Hey There Delilah. This will be a useful skill to develop after you leave school for the summer and have access to tabs all summer long.

Band:
Concert is this Thursday at 7:00pm - Call time is 5:15.
We will rehearse Monday and Wednesday after school until 5:00.

There is an iPhone raffle and hoagie sell currently taking place - please participate!

Week of 4/30

Almost at the finish line! Here is what's taking place this week.

Guitar:
Monday and Tuesday we are going to begin learning finger-picking using the Johnny Cash song, Hurt. In addition there will be excerpts from the textbook to prepare for your quiz this week. Wednesday ideally will be used as your review day, with the quiz being on Thursday. Friday, you will have the opportunity to once again work on your own material - it could be anything: Notes, Chords, Tabs, whatever you may like as long as you are playing.

Band:
We will rehearse this week on Thursday from 2:40 - 4:00. Please be prompt. We have to share this time with the choir so be ready to go by 2:40. Looking ahead, we will rehearse next Monday from 2:40-5, and next Wednesday from 2:40 - 5. The concert is next Thursday May 10th, call will be 5:15. We will perform the second half of the program. Great work so far this semester, and looking forward to an exceptional concert.

Hi Everyone:

Here is the schedule for this upcoming week. Enjoy the weather and be safe!

Band:
Rehearsal Wednesday 3-5:15. Following rehearsal, there will be a brief parent meeting regarding Walt Disney World - Please plan on attending.

Guitar:
This week we will be learning the notes of the D string found in your book. You will also have a quick lesson on Weds/Thurs regarding accompaniment. There will be a quiz on Friday from 3 selected melodies in your book. Keep working hard until the end.

No Rehearsal Wednesday - Continue to practice your music. We cannot afford to have to go back and fix mistakes once we return following break. Take care of individual preparation, and we can make music together in rehearsal rather than fixing notes. Keep up the great work, and come concert time, it will pay off.

Guitar:
M: Quiz on Eleanor Rigby - begin learning pop song(s)
Tu: Work on Pop Songs incorporating use of strum pattern learned last week
Weds: Quiz on Pop Song of your choice - You can supply - or - use one of mine

Week of March 19th

Hello All:

Hope this nice weather finds you excited to start the final marking period and push towards the end of the year! Here is what to expect this week in music classes.

Band:
There is no rehearsal this Wednesday after school due to a faculty meeting. We will rehearse next Wednesday after school until 5PM. The laser tag trip is this Friday. Please plan to meet at the school around 9:20 - we will depart no later than 9:30. Expected time home will be 7:15 on Saturday morning. Again, please come to rehearsals this week during school time ready to work and prepared - your mental attitude contributes greatly to what we get done, and how far we can go. I hope that we continue to strive to be our best all the time, in anything we do.

Guitar:

Tu: Lion King review page 1 - begin page 2 part 1
Wed: Lion King - Page 2 part 2

Hi Folks:

Welcome to another week. Here are the assignments for this upcoming week.

Band:
There will be no after-school rehearsal this week as we are waiting on the arrival of our spring music. There SHOULD be rehearsal next Wednesday (Feb. 1) from 5-7pm in the band room. Please plan on attending. Please be practicing the music that we do have, and scales so that when we are together for rehearsal we aren't waiting for people to learn notes - Learn them individually and we will put it together as a group.

Week of January 16th

Hello All!

Welcome to the 3rd marking period - Time is flying by!

Band:
No after-school rehearsal this week. We will start next week (Music Arrival Depending) with our new music for the Spring concert. Rehearsal will begin at 5PM and the end time will be announced (6:30/7:00). Please plan on attending as this will be the only night of the week we can rehearse for the spring.

Also - Please see me starting on Wednesday to pick up your scale packets - The student(s) in Junior High and Senior who can play the most scales by the end of the semester will receive an iTunes giftcard!!!!
